Crete on studytrip

As you saw earlier on my posts, I was in Crete last week for my job.

We where 17 travelagents arriving on the 27th september on this beautiful island.

The first 2 nights we stayed in Iberostar Mirabello close to Agios Nikolaos. For couples I really recommend taking a look at the following hotel : Aquila Elounda Village.

The coast on this side of the island (the east side ;-) ) is full of little bays and nice little villages along the mediterenean sea !

East Crete is much more dry than the west, but has lovely sceneries as well and offers nice possibilities for excursions. One of them is Spinalonga !

The "Lepra-island" is very small and a nice way to jump in to the history of Crete with all of his invasions and cults.

After spending a lovely time in Agios Nikolaos, we drove along the shore of to the centre of the island Chersonissos. This was really a disappointment...

The place to be for all the young & fun in the summer with pubs and bars all along the seaboulevard !! Though some nice hotels are nearby like the Creta Maris, the Candia Maris & Aquis Silva beach.

The other disappointment of the week was our visit to Knossos. If you allready saw some archeologic sites around the globe, please don't go to Knossos !! 

This is perfect for people who travel for the first time and want to discover something. Also, it's much smaller than I expected it to be !

Arriving on the westside of the island, the views started to change... Long sandy beaches, green hills, waterfalls and ancient cities ! What a nice place.

We didn't have the time to visit the famous Gorge of Samaria, but we did the Gorge of Myli, a smaller, less known gorge but still beautiful ! Prepare good shoes and lots of water for the walk...

Rethymno was originally a Venetian city with a great wall around it. Some parts are still there and the centre part of the city is very pittoresk ! Chania is similar to Rethymno and is definitely worth a visit or even a stay !!

Aquila Porto Rethymno, Aegean Pearl, Pilot Beach and Porto Platanias Beach, all hotels close to Rethymno and Chania and secure to have a great stay !!

The group of collegues who where there with me was fabulous and I want to thank them all for the lovely times spend together ! Next stop in 8 days.....

Aaaaahhhhh, what a pitty to be back in Belgium !!! I was feeling so good there...

My Usa trip in october - part 2

From Mammoth Lakes we continue through the Sierra Nevada to end up for a night in Lone Pine, a famous westernmovie city with Mount Whitney (highest top) on one side and the entrance of Death Valley on the other.

Once entering Death Valley, the world becomes a quiet place...a little space... 

And than suddenly the bright citylights from Las Vegas will blow our minds away and take us back to modern life and extravaganza !!

We will be sleeping 3 nights in The Flamingo Hotel on the famous Las Vegas Strip.

During our time in Las Vegas we will off course gamble (just a little bit...), see shows and take an helicopter tour above Grand Canyon... Off course...

Dream destination of the week

This week I take you to Mexico and the Yucatan Region.
On the 5th november my partner and myself are leaving for the Yucatan peninsula to enjoy a nice private holiday...

My Usa trip in october - part 1

It's almost there....

In less than a month I'm leaving this cold country to enjoy and live the American roadtrip experience....

My friend Carine and myself are arriving on the 17th in Los Angeles. After taking our rented car at the airport, we will head to our hotel in Hollywood !

We will stay 2 nights here, getting our jetlag in ordre and visiting the wellfare and starshining LA...

Next we'll take the road along the coast through Malibu, Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo (maybe taste some wine....) and turn off directly to Oakhurst where we'll stay for the night.

As we will be at the entrance of Yosemite, (you understood off course ;-)  ) we will visite the parc the day after.

We hope there will be no problem passing the Tioga Pass on the way, because we are expected in Mammoth Lakes the day after......

Beautiful sceneries, Sierra nevada, Mono Lake, Hot springs,... Nothing will stop are seach for mother natures creations...

This country has so much to offer ...
This is why it's deffinitly on the list for the worldtour !!

This week I wanted to share my next travel destination with you.
In october I'm leaving for 8 nights to the United States with a friend.

We will start our journey in Los angeles.
2 nights to feel the glitter & glamour of Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Venice Beach.
With the car we will continue through Malibu, Santa Barbara, Fresno to end up at Yosemite National Park for one night.
From there through the Sierra nevada, Mono Lake, Lone Pine, Death Valley....

to finish in ........ LAS VEGAS !
Place a little bet and flying off to Grand canyon with a helicopter.
