Mars 2012 - Direction Vietnam !!

Ca y est. C'est décidé.....en fait c'était deja décidé il y a quelques temps, mais nous avons un peu revu les possibilitées.... L'idee de départ etait de partir 3 semaines et de se concentré sur Vietnam et Cambodge. Mais 3 semaines sont tellement courtes.....
Du coup on a pesé le pour et le contre, et finalement nous avons opté pour le Vietnam uniquement.

Le 3 mars prochain nous nous envollons pour un vol Thai Airways direction Bangkok.....de la nous enchainons directement sur un vol Vietnam air vers Hanoi !!

La capital du Nord du Vietnam

Apres avoir flaner en ville, nous pensons nous diriger vers les regions plus reculée du nord-ouest, direction Sapa et les marchés locaux. Quelques randonnées dans les rizières, dormir chez l'habitant,...en gros, pour nous le paradis.....

De la, direction la fameuse et mysterieuse Baie d'Halong....que nous pensons découvrir a partir de L'ile de cat Ba.
Quittons brume et brouillard (j'éspère pas biensur...) vers l'interieur du pays, Ninh Binh et la baie d'halong terrestre ; Tam Coc.

Une nuit en train et nous arriverons a Hue, exemple Coloniale par excellence.
Quelques jours de plages et repos a Hoi An et rebelotte en train vers Saigon (ou Ho chi minh)

La vie dans le Delta du mekong sera notre derniere étape au Vietnam avant de revenir sur Bangkok pour un peu de shopping.

Ca sonne bien non ? J'ai hâte..... J - 37 (pffffff)

 

Le décompte commence....

Ca y est ! On vient de passer les 14 jours avant départ.... Le décompte final commence aujourd'hui...et l'impatience commence a se faire sentir....
Aprés des mois de préparations, de recherches, de forums de discussion et de doutes d'itineraires on a enfin tranché...

Voici ce qui nous attends (et vous un peu avec nous... ;-) )

- 22 octobre : vol Bruxelles - Las Vegas (déja l'intitulé donne envie...)
Arrivée a Las vegas on prend notre voiture et directemment direction Hurricane Utah pour un repos bien mérité au Comfort Inn Zion.
- 23 octobre : Découverte du Zion National Park. Surement l'occasion de faire de belles randonnées et de montrer mon coté sportif a mon homme....Après le Sri Lanka du mois de mars je lui ai bien prouvé que je suis capable de tenir la route !!! Nuitée au Bryce View Lodge.
- 24 octobre : Route pour Bryce Canyon et ses randos en cheval ou quad. A définir sur place.... Vediamo !
- 25 octobre : Déscente vers Page et journée tranquille. Nuitée au Holiday inn Express Page.
- 26 octobre : Kayak sur le Lake powell (je vous ai dis que se serais sportif !!)
- 27 octobre : Route (assez longue, mais bon) vers Monument Valley. Site tres connu grace au vieux Western hollywoodien et point d'interet important pour Daniel. Repos au Grand Hotel Grand Canyon.
- 28 octobre : Belle rando dans le gouffre du canyon, j'ai vraiment hâte !!
- 29 octobre : Direction la ville de péchés .... LAS VEGAS. Deux nuits de folies au Monte Carlo Hotel sur le fameux strip. Daniel va halluciner ....
- 30 & 31 octobre : Las Vegas et vol retour Bruxelles, snif snif.....

Not decided yet, but roughly....this would be it

As I read my books, blogs and forums around, it's really difficult to really make an itinerary now. But after some consulting I guess it would be something like this :

13 march - Arrival Colombo
9am visiting Pettah and around, then taking the train around 4.15pm straight to Anuradhapura. Arriving around 8.30pm.
Allready booked a guesthouse for the first night. Milano tourist rest for 19€ as mentionned in my Lonely Planet.

13/14 march - Anuradhapura 1 night
Visiting Anuradhapura and Mihintale with the bike. Taking a bus in the afternoon to Dambulla

14/15/16 march - Dambulla 2 nights
1st day - visiting Dambulla caves
2nd day - hireing a car+driver to visit Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa and driving straight on to Kandy



16/17/18 march - Kandy 2 nights
1st day - strolling around Kandy - Temple of the tooth and botanic gardens
2nd day - relaxing and taking the train to Hatton to get to Dalhousie

18/19 march - Adam's Peak !!
The big night ! Around 2am climbing the famous pelgrim mountain Adam's peak (Sri Pada) with it's 5000 stairs ! Hoping to reach the top....
After that, continuing straight to Haputale to rest....



19/20 march - Horton Plains & World's end
After a good long night of sleep, leaving early to hike through Horton Plains and reach Worlds end. If my legs follow.....
Taking a car to move on in the afternoon to Ella.


20/21/22 march - Ella 2 nights
After all the efforts, taking a break in Ella, with little hikes and massages...

Then I get a little confused about where to go....
1st option
Going south through Tangalle 1 night - Mirissa 2 nights - Galle and ending 2 nights around Negombo to catch our early flight back

2nd option
Going south to Kataragama 1 night - Tangalle 1 night - Unawatuna 2 nights and ending with a night Negombo...

The more I think about it, the more I get confused. So many things to do there... Turtles in Tangalle, whalespotting in Mirissa, the famous stilt fishermen, Galle fort, relaxing, aaarrrrgrrghhhhhh !!!!



I think we'll see when we get there.... Or do you have any suggestions ??

Anyway, I believe this will be a trip not to forget ! I'm so looking forward to it, it's making me crazy ! 2 days ago, I recieved a call from a guesthouse from Kandy, it feld like I was allready there. The guy named Malik was so friendly and helpfull. Told me that I had to change my plans because of the Cricket World Cup in Kandy !! Thanks to him, I will not be there for the increased prices and lots and lots of people for this event ! Thank you Malik from Palm Garden.

My Usa trip in october - part 1

It's almost there....

In less than a month I'm leaving this cold country to enjoy and live the American roadtrip experience....

My friend Carine and myself are arriving on the 17th in Los Angeles. After taking our rented car at the airport, we will head to our hotel in Hollywood !

We will stay 2 nights here, getting our jetlag in ordre and visiting the wellfare and starshining LA...

Next we'll take the road along the coast through Malibu, Santa Barbara to San Luis Obispo (maybe taste some wine....) and turn off directly to Oakhurst where we'll stay for the night.

As we will be at the entrance of Yosemite, (you understood off course ;-)  ) we will visite the parc the day after.

We hope there will be no problem passing the Tioga Pass on the way, because we are expected in Mammoth Lakes the day after......

Beautiful sceneries, Sierra nevada, Mono Lake, Hot springs,... Nothing will stop are seach for mother natures creations...
